I remember watching End of Days about 25 years ago, but since I barely remembered anything about it, I figured it was time for a rewatch. I am glad I did, because it turns out to be a pretty solid movie. It stars Arnold Schwarzenegger and, while he is not known for Oscar level acting, I somehow enjoy him in just about everything he appears in, especially the Terminator films.
The story centers on a man named Jericho, played by Arnold, who is trying to stop the devil from conceiving a child with a woman named Christine, played by Robin Tunney. This child would become the Antichrist, bringing about what is essentially the end of days. At the same time, a secretive group of Catholic Knights is also after Christine. They believe that killing her is the only way to prevent humanity from being wiped out.
Jericho is very skeptical of anything supernatural. After losing his wife and daughter, he believes that God turned His back on him. As a result, he relies on what he knows best, which are his guns. Christine, on the other hand, has been haunted her entire life by disturbing visions and recurring nightmares involving the devil. She simply wants to feel normal and understand why so many people are trying to kill her.
I will not go into every detail, since the movie came out in 1999, but there is no shortage of action. There are plenty of explosions, gunfights, and some surprisingly decent computer generated effects considering the time period in which it was made.
There are a couple of scenes that make very little sense. The one that stands out the most is near the end. Inside a church there is a concrete statue holding an actual steel sword. I have been in many churches and not once have I seen a statue wielding a real weapon. Why would someone sculpt a statue and then attach a genuine sword to it instead of simply sculpting one out of concrete as part of the statue. Naturally though, Arnold leaps onto it in a move that looks like a mix between Superman and a vampire. It is hilariously ridiculous.
The real question though: Should you watch this movie? I would say yes. It is well made, it has plenty of action, and the cast brings everything together nicely. The story is engaging and the visual effects hold up better than expected. If you want a fun action fantasy movie from the 90’s, give it a shot and you should not be disappointed.

Overall Verdict: If you're looking for a good throwback to the 90's with plenty of action and the Antichrist, then give it a go.
